Overview

Our name says a lot about us. It says that we are a family-owned company, one that takes such pride in our work that we're willing to put our name on it. It also aptly describes our services – excavating – earthmoving and related site development work. As we've grown, so have our service areas. We routinely handle excavating and utilities projects, both big and small, but we also offer preconstruction services and turnkey solutions for your projects.

Project Management

As a site work contractor, we constantly are reacting to changing site conditions and adverse weather. That's where our Project Management team comes in – their job is to plan for the unknown while keeping your project on track. Our Project Managers are a key resource in achieving our high standards of quality, scheduling and safety. They oversee the subcontractors that we use on our jobs and ensure the quality of work meets Poindexter's standards. Just like the field staff, our Project Managers use the latest in technology to get the job done. We stay connected with our clients, subcontractors and suppliers with Autodesk ConstructWare and we use Primavera software for project scheduling. These programs give us an edge in identifying critical path activities, scheduling crews and anticipating delays or early finishes. Agtek Earthwork 3D enables us to create state of the art earthwork take-offs which helps our team of estimators provide estimates for any size budget and value engineering ideas.

GPS Technology

For decades, equipment operators took their instructions from stakes in the ground that had to be moved and reset as the work unfolded. Grade stakes will soon be obsolete thanks to Global Positioning Satellites that send radio signals to Earth. Onboard GPS receivers allow scrapers, laser-augmented graders and dozers to plot accurate courses and grade to a ½” tolerance with little or no reference to in-ground markers. The immediate benefits are speed and extreme accuracy. Our ever-growing fleet of GPS equipment is enhanced by:

  • Trimble Navigation which introduced the dual-antenna Site Vision system that employs guidance and machine control;
  • Light bars mounted in the Operator’s field of vision that signal proper blade angle as the machine moves while a video display shows the proper cut or fill on the job site;
  • Sight Vision Office software that is used for GPS conversions and allows us to do all of this work in-house.
